The Lord called home a faithful servant on May 13, 2011

Rev. Frederick O. Burklin, Th.M. passed away at the age of 81. Rev. Burklin was Visiting Professor of Systematic Theology at Odessa Theological Seminary. He carried on a very fruitful and significant career, serving for Greater Europe Mission and teaching and providing leadership to the academic work of Bibelschule Bergstrasse in Seeheim, Germany.

Frederick also served as a visiting Professor in many Eastern European theological institutions. He has taught Systematic Theology in Odessa Theological Seminary since 1996. His lectures, rich personal experience and full commitment to God will long be remembered at Odessa Theological Seminary.

As a teacher, he always encouraged his students to apply theological doctrines to personal life and piety. His lectures were highly organized and, at the same time, interspersed by personal reflections and discussions on tough questions.

As a person, Fred was a man of integrity, sincerity, hard work, strong opinions, and fairness to others coupled with a friendly spirit, humility, and humor. All the students will remember him for his eagerness and passion to playing ping-pong. Only few of the much younger students managed to bit him! Besides his respectable age he always expressed buoyancy and good sense of humor.

All of the Faculty and students express their deepest sympathy to Frederick Burklin's family.
